Creative Writing Journal entries
Suspenseful Short Stories:
1. Oct 30: You encounter a boggart which transforms into your greatest fear. Describe the encounter.
2. Nov 1: Someone is following you. Or you are following someone. What happens?
3. Nov 4: "Listen, I'm got something to tell you." Continue the story.
4. Nov 6: Use the image as inspiration.
5. Nov 8: Describe the same location twice. One should feel positive. One should feel negative.
6. Nov 12: Begin at the end and use a flashback.
7. Nov 15: Listen to the music and try to match your sentences with the tempo.
8. Nov 18: Vary your sentence lengths for different moods.
Optional story starter: "The hairs on my neck stood on end. A shiver streaked down my spine. A piercing scream. It was mine."
9. Nov 20: Dramatic Irony. Reveal something to the reader at the beginning. Make sure a character doesn't know.
10. Nov 22: Free Write. Practice using all suspense techniques.

2. Sept 16: Who inspires you? Why?
3. Sept 18: What qualities should an ideal leader have? Why?​
4. Sept 23: Persuade the reader to like or dislike something.
5. Sept 25: Is it better to be well-prepared or think quickly on the spot?
6. Oct 2: Are you an optimist or pessimist?
7. Oct 4: "Honesty is the best policy." Do you agree?
8. Oct 7: Do we have an obligation to help others?
9. Oct 9: Which character would you want to meet from the story? What would you talk about?
10. Oct 14: How do you feel about Animal Farm? Write a book review.
